The British Invasion – Peter Asher & Jeremy Clyde

Pre-Concert Reception:  6:00 – 7:30 PM
Concert: 8 PM

For the second year, Lambertville*New Hope Winter Festival are hosting their annual community fundraiser concert at New Hope Winery.  This will be a fun-filled, multi-media event featuring storytelling, music and memories from one half of two iconic duos from the sixties:  Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon and Jeremy Clyde of Chad and Jeremy who together claim 30 Billboard hits.

There were many top UK bands making their way to the United States during the celebrated British invasion, as well as a pair of duos stealing a lot of their thunder. Peter and Gordon and Chad and Jeremy were wracking up the hits, and are still performing today. “We both had hit tunes, and people often confused us with one another,” said Peter Asher, who teamed with Gordon Waller to record  their first and biggest of many hits, the 1964 Paul McCartney song “A World Without Love.”

“We’d be congratulated for a great song that was actually a Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde tune, and vice-versa,” said Asher. “We were great friends, though, and a couple of times shared a stage together.”

A singer, talent manager, record producer, and radio show host, Peter Asher has sustained an impressive career in the music business for many decades. He was head of A&R department at the Beatles Apple Records label discovering the talents of James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt and many others.  Asher is very much hard at work all these years later, teaming up with Elton John to assist in production of his Revamp: The Songs Of Elton John & Bernie Taupin album, producing Steve Martin and The Steep Canyons’ 2017 The Long-Awaited Album, hosting his show From Me To You on SiriusXM’s The Beatles Channel, and most recently, gearing up to perform live with Jeremy Clyde at New Hope Winery.

Asher said Jeremy Clyde is the perfect mate for singing duos. “The coincidences are remarkable,” said Asher. “As Peter and Gordon, Gordon was the tall, good-looking guy with the low voice and I was the short, nerdy guy with the high voice. Well, Chad is the tall guy with the low voice, too.”

2019 marks the 22nd year of the Lambertville * New Hope Winter Festival.  The community fundraiser is hosted by Twin Rivertown Projects, Inc., a 501c3 organization consisting of a group of dedicated board and many volunteers who give generously of their time from late summer through the annual event in late January.
